Credit Risk Officer at Memento Microfinance Bank – Yaba, Lagos (Hybrid)

Memento Microfinance Bank Limited is hiring a Credit Risk Officer in Yaba, Lagos, on a hybrid work arrangement. Reporting to the Manager, Credit Risk, the officer evaluates lending decisions and monitors credit portfolio risks.

Credit appraisal

• Review loan applications, supporting documents, bank statements, cash flows and repayment capacity.
• Analyse credit bureau reports, indebtedness, collateral, account behaviour and risk classifications.
• Coordinate borrower KYC, identity, CAC and sanctions checks.
• Document credit appraisals, exceptions and evidence-based recommendations for loan amounts, terms and conditions.
• Support credit committee reviews and record decisions accurately in the loan origination platform.

Disbursement controls and monitoring

• Check all credit approval conditions, security and documentation before disbursement and escalate outstanding conditions.
• Ensure Credit Risk sign-off occurs before Finance disburses and loans are booked.
• Monitor repayments, delinquency, financial health, covenant breaches and portfolio concentration.
• Identify early warning signals and recommend closer supervision, restructuring or recovery where warranted.

Reporting and collaboration

• Prepare credit reports, keep reliable records and support internal and regulatory reviews.
• Work with relationship officers, compliance, finance and management while preserving independent risk assessment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics or a related discipline.
• At least three years’ relevant experience in credit analysis, underwriting, banking, microfinance or financial risk.
• Competence in lending analysis, cash flows, credit bureau reports, loan documentation, SME and retail loans.
• Working knowledge of KYC, AML, regulatory controls and Excel; digital lending experience is beneficial.
• Strong analytical judgement, numeracy, accuracy, communication and stakeholder management.
